Opening a Damaged Safe

Having a safe installed in your home can be really useful. It is the ideal way to keep important documents and valuable items secure. However, if the locking mechanism on your safe is damaged, it can be a real headache. My name is Fran and this is what happened to me. I was about to leave my home to travel abroad on business when I discovered I couldn't open the safe which contained my passport. I was in a real panic! Thankfully, an emergency locksmith came around to my home and opened the safe so I could retrieve my travel documents. When I returned, I contacted the same locksmith and asked him to install a new safe in my property.

Three tips to secure the locks to your sliding door locks

Most residential houses love the convenience of sliding glass doors, especially as side doors. However, when it comes to security, sliding doors are often overlooked. The best locks that are available in the market are best paired with core door types. Sliding doors have specially designed sliding locks. It is essential to ensure that the lock you install on your door offers you maximum security. The following three security tips should help you get the maximum security from your door.

Install an auxiliary lock mechanism

One of the things that burglars love the most is working on a break and entry without being seen. Sliding doors are usually their favourite entry point because they are within sight. In most cases, the sliding doors do not have a mechanism to notify the owner when they are under attack. The simple latch locks that are the standard for sliding doors cannot offer you the security you need. You should talk to a locksmith to install an additional locking system that will give burglars a hard time accessing your house.

Fortify the glass that surrounds the door lock

The weakness of the sliding doors is heightened by the fact that it is possible to break the glass which surrounds the lock, and has easy access to the lock mechanisms. When the glass is fortified, the burglars will not easily see whatever is inside the house. Visibility is a problem which can be solved using sheets of glass security film. The film is easy to install, and it breaks the impact of any attempt to break into the home. Another alternative is getting impact resistant glass, which is very useful in warding off tries to get into the house.

Install motion sensor alarms

In case your sliding glass doors have to be located in a part of the home that is out of sight, it is recommended that you install motion sensors near the doors. This way, in case an intruder is either casing the house or trying to gain access to your home, the alarm will be set off. The locksmith will know how to position the motion sensor alarm close enough to the lock so that any touch on the locks leads to an alert.

The security of a home with sliding glass doors depends on the quality of the lock and the firmness of the glass. When you fortify a sliding glass door, the overall security of your home is enhanced.
